Rich Wacker is the President & Chief Executive Officer of American Savings Bank (ASB), the third largest financial institution in Hawaii serving consumer and commercial customers across the state. ASB works to make people's dreams possible, and has been consistently recognized as a Best Place to Work in Hawaii and as one of the Best Banks to Work For nationally. Active in the community, Rich serves in leadership positions on several non-profit boards including the Hawaii Business Roundtable (Chair); Child & Family Service (past Chair); University of Hawai‘i Foundation (Vice-Chair); Chaminade University (Board of Regents); UH—Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship; UH‘s XLR8UH accelerator program and the Hawaii Bankers Association. Prior to joining ASB, Rich was Chairman and CEO of Korea Exchange Bank (KEB), a $90 billion Korean commercial bank and leader in trade finance that operated in 22 countries. Rich led KEB through a successful turnaround in the aftermath of the Asian financial crisis, and in 2008 Rich was recognized as one of Korea’s “Most Respected CEOs.” Rich also enjoyed a 20-year career with General Electric (GE). He was a company officer and held a wide range of senior leadership positions, based in the U.S. and Europe, with GE Capital, GE Medical Systems, and the corporate headquarters. He joined GE after earning a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri.
