Shubha Chandra leads BSR’s efforts on tackling modern slavery through consulting and the cross-industry collaboration Global Business Coalition Against Human Trafficking. She supports BSR’s consulting and collaborative initiative efforts on human rights, including BSR’s Human Rights Working Group. Shubha has supported companies on a range of human rights consulting projects. Shubha’s engagements include developing human rights policies and strategies, conducting human rights impact assessments and developing internal human rights management systems.
Prior to joining BSR, Shubha managed the human rights program at the United Nations Global Compact, where she worked closely with business to provide solutions on various human rights challenges. She also served as legal counsel for the organization under its chief legal officer. Shubha began her career in business and human rights working on international human rights cases at a Washington, D.C., law firm. In law school, Shubha worked at several human rights organizations and at the U.S. Department of Justice. She also worked in western Kenya on a peace-building and conflict mitigation project funded by the European Union. Shubha holds a J.D. from New York Law School and a bachelor's degree in international affairs from George Washington University.
