Ellen Welti graduated from Kansas State University with bachelor's degrees in biology and history. She continued at Kansas State University, earning her Ph.D. in biology in Tony Joern’s lab, where she studied ecological networks of plant-herbivore and plant-pollinator interactions. She is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Oklahoma in the lab of Mike Kaspari. Her work focuses on the role of sodium and other nutrients in shaping arthropod communities and grassland food webs. Her spare time activities include watercoloring, listening to podcasts and reading short stories.
