Andrew Watterson is a senior consultant at BrownFlynn. Previously, he served in the Office of Sustainability for the city of Cleveland for six years, most recently as the city’s first chief of sustainability. As chief, he advised the city on policies related to energy, buildings, fleet and purchasing, and oversaw the Office of Sustainability. Andrew made his mark by leading the coordination of the Sustainable Cleveland 2019 initiative, an action plan established by Cleveland to create an economic engine to empower a green city on a blue lake.
Before working for the city, Andrew worked in real estate development, focusing on historic restoration and green building projects such as Van Roy Coffee Building and the Cleveland Environmental Center. Andrew has a masters of positive organization development (MPOD) from Case Western Reserve University, his B.A. in environmental policy and economics from Bates College and is a LEED-accredited professional in the U.S. Green Building Council.
CBRE's Real Green Research challenge puts its money where its mouth is in funding research on sustainable real estate practices, while a Cleveland program involves citizens in creating sustainable economic growth.
It's not enough just to give employees information about sustainability. To truly engage them, you also need them to connect -- to interact with each other and to understand what they can do individually.
