Brandie Barrett currently serves as a Deputy Public Works Director for the City of Phoenix, where she is responsible for providing cross-disciplinary leadership and implementing circular economy and economic development initiatives in support of the city’s Reimagine Phoenix Initiative to improve diversion from landfill to 40 percent by 2020 and achieve zero waste by 2050. She serves as a liaison to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s CE 100 and manages the city’s agreement with Arizona State University that formed the Resource Innovation Solutions Network (RISN) partnership, which is modeled internationally as a powerful platform to advance circular economy and sustainability initiatives. Over her 14 years of local government experience, Brandie has managed a multitude of high profile activities, including managing the city’s fleet of 7,500 pieces of equipment, which was recognized with a Government Green Fleet award. She has presented policy alternatives to the City Council on a diverse range of citywide programs and issues. Brandie holds a Master of Arts in American Indian Studies from the University of Arizona and a Bachelor of Arts in German Culture Studies from Mount Holyoke College.
