Laura Phillips is the Senior Vice President for Global Sustainability at Walmart. In this role, Laura works with associates, suppliers, nonprofits, government officials and academics to develop and implement Walmart’s global sustainability strategy - aligned with the mission to Save people money, so they can live better. Laura’s work is focused on reducing costs in energy and waste, while providing access to products sourced sustainably.
Prior to this role, Laura led Walmart’s Enterprise Strategy team on Omni-Channel Assortments and served for 20 years in various leadership roles in U.S. Merchandising including dry grocery, wireless, video games, toys and as the General Merchandise Manager of Entertainment. Laura joined Walmart in 1994, as a store intern in Florida. Some of her key accomplishments include: Founding member of the Walmart Sustainability Network, 2007 Sam M. Walton Entrepreneur award recipient, member and former chair of the President’s Global Council for Women’s Leaders, Board Advisory member of the Bentonville Film Festival and serves on the board for the Walton MBA Alumni Council.
Laura earned her BA of Science in Finance from the University of Florida in Gainesville, an MBA from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and is a Graduate of the Global 2020 program at the Tuck Business School at Dartmouth. She resides in Rogers, AR with her husband, John and their two children, Jack and Kate.
