Venessa Wong

Venessa is a business writer and editor based in New York City. She currently works as a freelance writer and has contributed articles to Forbes.com, CNBC European Business, Newsweek Select, Business China (by the Economist Intelligence Unit), Corporate Board Member and [email protected]. Having an avid interest in green energy, she also works with the Joint U.S.-China Cooperation on Clean Energy (JUCCCE).
Venessa is a business writer and editor based in New York City. She currently works as a freelance writer and has been published in Forbes.com, Newsweek Select, Business China (by the Economist Intelligence Unit) and Corporate Board Member.

Venessa worked in China for nearly four years starting in 2004, most recently as Editor in Chief of Insight magazine at the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai. She was also published in other China business magazines such as EuroBiz and China Economic Review, as well as lifestyles publications City Weekend and 8days. Her major areas of focus are China business and economy and U.S.-Sino relations.

In addition to writing and editing magazines, Venessa also managed AmCham Shanghai's annual Membership Directory, and previously contributed to China Economic Review's 2005 China Business Guide. Before joining the American Chamber, she worked as a Chinese-English translator for Shanghai-based media firm Sinomedia, working primarily on corporate press releases and presentations.

Additionally, Venessa acted as Chair of Community Outreach for the Shanghai Expatriate Association. She is also a member of the Explore Shanghai Heritage Foundation, a group which aims to improve education and awareness of Shanghai's architectural heritage.

Before becoming a professional writer, Venessa worked as a columnist and features writer for The Middlebury Campus during her four years as an undergraduate student at Middlebury College in Vermont, and for The Spectator at Stuyvesant High School, where she first became interested in journalism. She is a New York City native.
