BASF's Mitchell Toomey on mapping corporate strategy on the sustainable development goals

March 12, 2019

Mitch Toomey, formerly from the United Nations, recently joined BASF to rejoin the private sector to drive impact by implementing the sustainable development goals into corporate strategy. BASF recently launched a five-year plan that put "sustainability at the core," and Toomey wants to make sure that sustainable development touches not only the products of the companies but employees throughout the supply chain.

His advice to other companies? "Taking into account the human dignity factors of the customers, the workers, the suppliers' workers, all the way down ... you want to make sure you're part of the human conversation," he said.
