Bridge to Hawaii's future: lessons from the next generation

June 29, 2018

As countless studies have shown, most young people accept climate change as fact — and they're increasingly willing to make lifestyle choices based on this fact. At VERGE Hawaii, these Hawaiian high schoolers discussed their commitments to fighting climate change, in their lives and on the island.

Luis Salaveria, director of the State of Hawaii Department of Business and Tourism, sat down with Hawaiian students Hina Chow, Annika Berezney and Jenna Takata, to ask about their opinions, their visions and their decisions. They were "impressed," "inspired" and even "overwhelmed" by the new ideas they were exposed to at VERGE Hawaii.

"The movement has been around for a while, and it's about time that the youth is involved, because they need to be," Berezney said.
