Haley Lowry is Dow's global director of sustainability, and a major focus of her job right now is getting people inside and outside of her organization to care about plastic waste. From investing in Circulate Capital to joining the Alliance to End Plastic Waste to having Dow's employees collect plastic waste themselves to using plastic waste in new technology to build muncipal roads, Dow is looking at a diverse set of solutions. Still, there's no plastic bullet, and public awareness is the first step.
It might be a little bit harder, she said, like bringing your reusable bag to the store, but pursuing the solutions are worth it.
