Erika Karp of Cornerstone Capital Group on fixing capitalism with ESG analysis

August 3, 2019

When investors assess the risks and opportunities in a company, they cannot overlook the environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors. Founder and CEO of Cornerstone Capital Group, Erika Karp, urges players in the financial world to define "profit" more holistically and long-term:  profit includes human capital and natural capital, not just financial returns. "It’s becoming more and more clear that this is the future of finance. Companies didn’t used to have to report even their revenues 70 years ago, now they’re starting to report ESG factors, and we’re starting to get some standards," Karp said.
