Ever heard of the 'Silicon Valley of the Middle East'?

October 5, 2016

The Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority is a "free zone" city-within-a-city of Dubai that was established in 2005 and since has attracted 19,000 companies, most of which focus on technology.

Muammar Al Katheeri, executive VP of engineering management and smart city at the Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority, describes the Dubai Silicon Oasis' efforts to attract technology companies.

On the recent launch of its new five-year strategy, Al Katheeri said, "We are focusing on four main pillars: one is the smart city; one to become a technology hub; to be a desired society — a society of preference in the UAE — and also to have a competitive edge and to have our employees be happy employees."
