How to deliver value with natural capital

At GreenBiz Forum 2014, one of the most buzzed-about topics at the table was natural capital. As natural resources become increasingly scarce, more companies are discussing and embracing ways to value assets such as clean water and soil. Fittingly, the conference kicked off with a sit-down discussion about this topic featuring Joel Makower, GreenBiz executive editor and chairman; John Davies, GreenBiz VP; and Richard Mattison, CEO of Trucost, an organization that helps companies measure such impacts.

Quantifying environmental affects in financial terms, all agreed, is critical when delivering to the C-Suite. Said Davies: "When you go to the CEO, you need dollars and cents." In helping to do that, natural capital is driving companies to reach for the high-hanging fruit
