The technology and economics of solar photovoltaic systems have changed dramatically in recent years, making it a more attractive buy. SunPower unveiled another dimension to make solar attractive to the commercial market: Selling rooftop solar energy systems as one integrated solution. It calls its product Helix.
In conversation with GreenBiz CEO Eric Faurot at VERGE 2015, SunPower CEO Tom Werner said "every piece of the system is engineered as a complete system," from cables to software to panels and inverters. It means, he said, that putting solar on the roof of a commercial space should not need to be a prolonged capital project involving a lot of labor. "It take all that customer labor out of the field and design it into the system."
