Thread's Ian Rosenberger on sourcing materials from waste streams

February 22, 2017

How does a company transform trash from the poorest communities into the most responsible fabric on the planet? At GreenBiz 17, Thread CEO Ian Rosenberger told the story of a trip to Haiti that inspired him to source materials from plastic waste streams, and how corporate partnerships are taking this impact to scale.

He describes why he chose to focus the environmental efforts of the company on jobs. "I have an environmental company but we actually care more about putting the 3,000 people to work in the supply chains that we work with, because we know that if we do that really, really well, then they’re going to suck all the plastic up off the ground in places like Haiti, Honduras, Asia and Africa," said Rosenberger. "To me, this is ground zero in the environmental crisis."
