Tom Steyer on the link between climate goals and green jobs

June 9, 2016

In California alone, the state has committed to doubling the efficiency of some 600,000 commercial buildings and converting 50 percent of electricity to renewable generation sourced by 2030.

That's just one example of the potential to leverage increasingly ambitious public and private sector climate targets with the creation of new jobs, according to Tom Steyer, the billionaire clean energy advocate and founder of environmental group NextGen Climate.

“When you think about accelerating the move to clean energy, you’re really talking about a gigantic infrastructure project," Steyer said in an interview at the recent Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM7) conference in San Francisco.
