Viktoria Pakhnyuk’s role at Kwik Lok as Sustainable Product Development Manager combines her expertise in materials science with the company’s ambitious sustainability efforts. Since joining Kwik Lok in 2020, she has been instrumental in helping to drive the company’s mission to create more circular products. Her work merges technical development with data-driven communication to help advance sustainability initiatives for Kwik Lok and its customers. Viktoria leads multiple projects in the research and development of environmentally conscious bag closure products. These projects focus on expanding Kwik Lok’s product set to include bio-based closures to lead the packaging industry’s transition toward a more sustainable future.In addition to driving material innovation, Viktoria has become a trusted advisor and sustainability educator for Kwik Lok’s global customer base in the bakery and produce industries. She helps customers to navigate the complexities of implementing sustainable packaging solutions that align with their ecological, technological, regional and financial priorities. Research conducted by Viktoria and her team has helped Kwik Lok receive recognition for its work in sustainable packaging from the U.S. Plastics Pact, the Food Processing Suppliers Association, and other international awards. She serves as a member of Kwik Lok’s Innovations Committee made up of board members, staff and corporate partners charged with ensuring the company’s innovation goals are aligned with corporate CSR efforts and values. Viktoria earned her PhD in Chemistry from the University of Washington where she served as an Innovation Development Fellow and Chair of the University’s chapter of the Materials Research Society.
