Youngchoon Park, Ph.D., is VP of Platforms and Data Science for Johnson Controls. He is currently leading data-enabled product and platform development, propelling digital transformation strategy to serve customers. He led the creation of Johnson Controls’ first data lake, as well as some building management solutions and intelligent video surveillance products.
Park's major research interests are machine learning, database systems, distributed multimedia computing, semantic computing, and enterprise application integration. He is an author of "Building an Effective IoT Ecosystem for Your Business," a frequent contributor of articles in industry and academic publications and has participated in many international conferences and workshops, including SAFE, DOE’s peer review, ACM Multimedia and ACMMM Video surveillance. Prior to joining Johnson Controls, Park was a faculty member at Arizona State University. He holds 32 U.S. patents and is the founder of several successful startups, including PicDB Inc. and Roz Software Systems. He holds a master’s degree and PhD from Arizona State University in Computer Science.
